365 days of chance for cash prizes

Give a gift that keeps giving this year

 By: Brandy Ford

There is one gift that you can give to others this year that is practical, needed and has the potential to treat the recipient to a little cash all year long- a Shriners’ Cash Calendar.
The Port Colborne/Welland & District Shrine Club are selling their cash calendars, along with traditional fruit cake, short bread cookies and truffles, as part of their annual holiday fundraiser. All money collected goes directly into programs funded by the club which help children receive specialized treatments and orthopedic surgeries for those suffering from burns. Families are also given support in areas such as transportation and travel expenses.
Ralph Tyler and Sharon Noiles, both members of the
Port Colborne/Welland & District Shrine Club,
were selling cash calendars, fruit cakes, short bread cookies
and truffles at the Seaway Mall on Saturday.
The club will be fundraising almost
daily at the mall right up to Christmas Eve.

“Shriners look after children regardless of race, colour, creed or religion. Expenses are paid by the Shriners,” says Shriner Ralph Tyler.
Each holiday season the community supports Shriners by purchasing their goodies and, with the purchase of their cash calendar it could be a gift that keeps giving all year round because there are 365 chances to win.
“We do a draw every day of the year and names go right back into the draw so, really, people could win more than once,” says Shriner, Sharon Noiles.
Daily cash prizes are $25, but on Fridays the prize jumps to $50 and the last day of the month the Shriners give away $200.
“So, even if someone wins once they have gotten back the money they put in to buy the calendar,” Noiles says.
