Want to show off your extensive knowledge of random musical trivia facts? Want to have some fun and have a chance to win a few prizes? Want to do all that and support a school that has been a part of Welland’s history for over 55 years?

“We are really excited. It’s going to be a lot of fun,” says Emily Reid. Reid is the fundraising and events co-ordinator for St. David’s Co-op Nursery School on Thorold Road, and she says the school has been working hard raising money during the year for new playground equipment.

The school is hosting a special Music Trivia Night March 9 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fonthill and she hopes the community will show their support.

The school is raising money to replace the out-dated play area through
a music trivia night being held at the Fonthill Legion this Saturday.

“This fundraiser is specifically to raise money for our out doors play space. We pretty desperately need to update it. It’s a little bit sad out there and it needs a little bit of a face lift,” she says. “(We want) to be able to update all of that for the kids and get them a more natural, current play space outside.”

Paul Morris, former radio host at 97.7 will be the MC for the evening and there will be a door prize, 50/50 draw, penny raffle and a prize for the winning table. There will be pizza included with ticket purchase, as well as a cash bar.

Reid says the trivia will include “a mix of everything music and is pretty inclusive and covers all of the bases.”

Tickets are still available and Reid says community support is key to the school’s success.

“Our school itself has been in the community for over 55 years now.  We’ve been a valued part of the community. I think that’s really important. A lot of people know our name and I feel they might be a little more inclined because of that to support us. Just knowing we’re still around. We’re still thriving.”

Tickets are $20 per person or $140/table of 8 people. Tables can be reserved ahead of time or tickets can be bought at the door.

The Royal Canadian Legion, at 141 Hwy 20 E in Fonthill, will open the doors at 6pm and the trivia begins promptly at 7pm.
